24, Natural Childbirth, and Engineers

So Jeff and I have been watching Season 2 of 24 for the past week or so. I know it's on like Season 7 now so we're a little behind but it's still been fun. It is not really my type of show at all but once I got into the story, I was hooked. So we watch a couple of episodes every night and we are enjoying the fact that we are enjoying something together. We don't usually agree on TV shows or movies but we're both totally into this one. The only problem is that every night I want to watch 'just one more'...totally addicting.

It's my 4th pregnancy and I have been building up my bravery to have natural childbirth, meaning specifically, no epidural. I am determined that if I am able to go into labor on my own, then this will be the time to try it. My baby has had other plans though and has been lying transverse for a while now. I have been extremely worried because I DO NOT want to have a C-section. I know, I know, it's not that big a deal but it's just not something that I want to deal with. Well, today I had a visit with the doc and the baby is now head-down, yay! I'm praying that he stays put until I can have him.

After my appointment this afternoon, I stopped by Jeff's office to pick him up. He was deep in conversation with a couple of colleagues and so I sat and waited for him to finish, about 10-15 minutes. They were looking at a graph and trying to interpret its exact meaning and see how it applied to the work they needed to do. I almost had to laugh when I heard one of them say this: "so what exactly is a car half-hour trying to tell me?" It wasn't my husband, by the way, but I sure thought it was pretty funny. Typical engineer...who else in the world even uses terms like car half-hour, let alone cares what it is trying to tell them??

Oh, I remember the days of staying up until 3am watching 24 with Brandon! Great memories! Now we prefer to watch it when it's on tv so there's no temptation to watch more! We have all the seasons, so let us know if you need to borrow them! Kudos to you for wanting to try a natural childbirth, and I'm glad the baby's head is down!

Keep that boy down there...you dont want a c-section, trust me I have had 3 :( Then again I dont know if the actually delivery is worse. I pushed with Bailey for 4 hours straight after 17 hours of labor and still was cut open. NOT FAIR! Dont go that long, listen to your Dr. if you need to have one, it wasnt worth the healing from both after. Hopefully everything will go well and you wont have to deal with it. You are amazing, I am ALL about epidurals.

You're a strong woman to brave natural childbirth. I admire women who can do it, but I am not one of them. I'm glad he's in position for you. :)

How much longer do you have??? I would love to come by and see you...maybe I can drop something off this week / weekend. Holy cow is September almost over???

I think that you could definitely do natural, you seem like a strong person....Me on the other hand, when transition hits I ask for drugs. :)

Awesome that his head is in the right position! When is your due date again? We might be at the hospital at the same time!

Wow, I just remembered how close you are to having your baby. I think you are crazy to have it natural! JK. That is one brave thing to do. I am glad he is in the right position.

c-sections can be the way to go. you just don't know if it is this time or next!

I think it is awesome that you want to attempt natural child birth. I, however, am a wuss. And I like my drugs. I can only imagine how many heads I would rip off if I didn't have my drugs. :)
